My second favourite roguelike after @kevingranade #cataclysmdda but I am really bad at both of them.

Started a new updated game of Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead last night. I'm a pacifist nun who fled to my friend Liam's cabin.

Another friend went crazy and tried to kill Liam just as I was getting there, so Liam shot him. I dragged his corpse outside and held as much of a funeral as the game allowed (I read the Bible next to his corpse).

I now have a hammer and a makeshift sling. So far not a whiff of zombies.

Played Cataclysmdda for the first time in a while.

Secret agent helicopter start. Decided to make towards the helicopter base as it seemed like a cool potential base.

Found an RV along the way as well as a military road block where I picked up a trusty M4A1 and ammunition.

Eventually got to the Helicopter Base, and leeroy Jenkinsed into the zeds... by which I mean I rammed half of them with my RV and then shot the remainder. Also got some night vision goggles but they chew through batteries almost impossibly fast.

All in all a great first day to the cataclysm.

Man... I have played so much Cataclysm Dark Days Ahead this week that if somebody asked me how many hours, I'd be unable to say. Awesome apocalyptical sandbox roguelike, loving it. #cataclysmdda

@evrys Sigh. I suppose so. It's a lot easier to play and more... streamlined and gamified that #cataclysmdda . Unfotunately that comes at a cost of realism I suppose.

...anyways I got one more post cooking in this saga of goatmen. Stay tuned.

I finally got to Grit Gate! man these guys seem... isolationist and rather up themselves. They remind me a bit of the hub01 guys from #cataclysmdda

I even got a cool side quest to be a detective for a farming village on the way there. Really felt like the lone ranger at that point...

I'm really enjoying Qud. The main storyline is quite cool. But I also like diving the random other ruins. Especially now that I have a recoiler so won't get lost endlesssly underground like I've done at least once before...

Looking back at #cataclysmdda work, the most interesting projects were completely reworking and simplifying how monsters spawn in the wilderness, building a new NPC who does not speak English, a new group of traveling NPCs, and a whole bunch of work for the new Great Library NPC faction that still doesn't spawn in experimental, but trust me, it is a lot.

My random generated character in #CataclysmDDA is awfully close to real me. :drgn_shocked:

Man, choosing just 5 is like picking 5 favorite kids out of your 20! In no particular order:

#ReturnOfTheObraDinn - remains the pinnacle of puzzle/mystery design, to me

#OuterWilds - an incredible emotional journey of discovery and exploration

#Hades - manages the impossible of doing everything it sets out to do PERFECTLY

#MarkofTheNinja - an all-time classic pillar of the stealth AND platform we genre

#CataclysmDDA - literally my favorite game, had to put it on here!

Personally I would rather read reviews/news about games like stendhal, isleward, nethack, Cataclysm Dark Days Ahead.

I want to play one of these while listening to podcasts.

I want to see humanity moving in a more libre direction. We can and should still have fun and explore creative ways of having fun (with and without computing).

@jonn i mostly find modern games (the ones i can play on #linux ∧ the ones i care to try) boring compared to #cataclysmdda & #dwarffortress...

but i'd highly recommend «hard west» (the collerctor's edition is 3,49$)

and i might give a try to «mainframe defenders» (0,69$ right now).
