I’m really considering getting into cassette tapes next year. I’ve always loved the sound of analogue audio and I’ve fond memories of listening to audio stories as a child to sleep to.

I also love the look of cassette futurism or retro futurism. Can anyone recommend me a modern cassette tape player with this aesthetic that aren’t too expensive? I also appreciate any general tips regarding cassettes an everything surrounding it.

Back to the original formula. Earlier this year I bought some DJ-grade turntables and CD players and really enjoyed experimenting with radio-style sets on physical media for a while. But I've decided to get back to what I started with: full albums on vinyl, CD, and cassette. I'm trying to focus on, preserve, and share the joy of listening to and discussing records with friends and loved ones. The full-album experence is how I most enjoy listening to and discovering pre-recorded music.

I hope to upgrade to a much nicer turntable and cartridge before the end of the year.

Have you seen the ads for that Rewind tape player? A portable cassette player with a non-user-replaceable rechargeable battery seems like a bad idea to me. In 3-5 years it will cease to be portable. Unless you carry an external battery pack with it? Just have it use AA batteries and people can use rechargeable AAs if they want. I love the renewed interest in the format, but we can make a better, longer-lasting, user-friendly device with modern technology.
