#ICE is advancing throughout the country. Right now, they've either secured rights to a large warehouse near #Belton #missouri or are in the process of working with local Republicans to set up camp elsewhere in #cass county. And the Republicans are pushing for it because "law and order" and "jobs." We don't have a crime problem out here in the boonies. We could use more #jobs, but having ICE yanking people from the local Wal-Mart isn't going to entice more businesses.

Mr. Vance’s new job is likely to make Rockbridge and its 150 members influential players in pushing the Trump agenda.
In part, that is because Mr. Trump has had a sometimes frosty relationship with traditional Republican donor groups,
including the libertarian Koch Network
and the more hawkish American Opportunity Alliance.Rockbridge, by contrast, was born in the Trump era and shares his edginess,
if not the wealth of those rival networks.“There’s a decision that big conservative donors have to make here,” said #Oren #Cass,
an influential conservative economist in Mr. Vance’s orbit
who is close with these major donors.“Up until the 2024 election, there was at least a colorable case to be made that maybe Trump isn’t going to succeed.”
That case is now no longer colorable, Mr. Cass said.
“Who is stuck in the cargo hold of the old ship and going down with it
— and who actually wants to be relevant to the future of conservatism?” he asked.Mr. #Buskirk told donors in Las Vegas that during the campaign, Rockbridge had about 3,000 people in the field working on Mr. Trump’s behalf.
Now, after the Republican victory, Mr. Buskirk said, it was time for Rockbridge projects to grow even bigger.

has reportedly not been seen in public since making disparaging remarks on WeChatA leading Chinese economist at a government thinktank has reportedly disappeared after being disciplined for criticising Xi Jinping in a private chat group.
Zhu Hengpeng, 55, is believed to have made disparaging remarks about China’s economy, and potentially about the Chinese leader specifically, in a private WeChat group.
Zhu was subsequently detained in April and put under investigation, according to the Wall Street Journal which cited anonymous sources.
Zhu worked for the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences ( #CASS ) for more than 20 years,
most recently as the Institute of Economics deputy director and director of the Public Policy Research Center.He has reportedly not been seen in public since April when he spoke at an event organised by Chinese media outlet Caixin,
which he had done previously.Efforts by the Wall Street Journal to contact him at home were unsuccessful.
The Cass has not responded to queries from the Guardian.Earlier this month Hong Kong media reported a shakeup of the institute’s senior ranks,
with the director and secretary also removed from their posts at the same time Zhu was stripped of his role.The other two officials were reassigned, according to Sing Tao Daily,
but Zhu was not, and is no longer listed on the Cass website.Websites related to his work at Tsinghua University have also been taken offline, although the Guardian could not confirm when.
