  1. For those unfamiliar with Cascadian politics, the Tri-Cities are as red as you get outside Spokane Valley Christofascism. Their paper being done with this shit matters.

Indiscriminate ICE arrests devastate WA farms, churches and families | Editorial
    By Tri-City Herald Editorial Board
    March 21, 2026

As spring arrives in Eastern Washington, farmers need workers to prepare their fields and orchards. It is getting harder to find those workers, however, because federal immigration enforcers have made the region a hot spot for arrests and deportations. These enforcement actions disrupt lives and communities with little regard for the disastrous consequences.

  2. Tukwila and Sea-Tac have both banned new ICE detention facilities. Tukwila was one of the places they were looking at large-warehouse rental or purchase for one of their staging-area style concentration camps.

The Olympia City Council unanimously approved two actions at its Feb. 24 meeting that were aimed at restricting federal immigration agents in the city, effective immediately.

  5. Bringing this set of statements from Seattle Mayor Wilson posted originally a few days ago over from elsewhere. It'll be a thread because it's a bunch of images, but I will of course alt-text.

  6. SB 5855 passed the Senate. This is the bill banning facial-covering identity concealment by law enforcement.

All Democrats for. All Republicans against. No abstentions. If you had _any_ thoughts that local Republicans were any better, please jettison them. And the Republicans.

    app.leg.wa.gov/bi/RollCallsOnA

(Exemptions are made for undercover work and N-95 medical masking. I presume every Federal agent will suddenly find themselves fully invested in COVID-19 control. But that's still a lot less coverage than the full-face-plus-glasses covering they do now.)

  7. A small number of Washington State legislators who don't understand automated CNC or 3D printing are trying to block firearms and "illegal firearm parts" creation but their bill is stupid and broken.

The bill requires checking and approval of everything you print. It would functionally require massive AI adoption and always-online remote-checked printing, or massive local models.

    app.leg.wa.gov/billsummary?Bil

I know everything else is insane too, but please take a moment to tell your legislators no on this bill. It's dysfunctional and yet another surveillance monster, this time of everything you make.

You can message them via tools at the link.

  9. ACLU-WA ACTION TODAY:

There are no regulations in Washington governing how public agencies can use ALPRs [which] enables the government to conduct widespread warrantless surveillance, hold onto everyone’s data, and share it [and it] has already been accessed by ICE and Border Patrol.

The Driver Privacy Act [sets] limits on which agencies can use ALPRs, how long they can retain the data and who can access that data.

Sign in and support both House and Senate bills for the Driver Privacy Act:

  10. CW: cw: the shitheel's route to overturning the 2026 elections and what to do about it

Here's a CWed version for the small number of you who prefer those.

Why don't we talk about how one way Trump and the fascist MAGA movement could overturn this year's elections, because I'm quite confident they'll try.

We also talk about how to prep and what to do if they try it, so:

  12. These are back sides. I rotate them forward when traffic is moving at speed, since they're very short and very easy to read.

Those middle three words can be swapped out over and over again. I went with the "recruits white nationalists" but seriously, you can make any number of these, and maybe I will.

All of these signs are 11x17. You can print them across two pieces of letter paper and it'll work fine. I can share, if people want.

Anyway. This is a two-day event. Find something near you, get out there. And get into the habit, 2026 is going to be nasty.

(4/4 probably, I have to go to the grocery before it rains)

  13. CW: This is the "shock the conscience" sign.

You can see why it might shock. Most signs are built on raising energy, having a sense of humour, or just very direct things like "MELT ICE" etc - attempts to be light and clever.

I made no attempt to be light, or clever. Black on white, sharp reality.

(And a little text design. I have an art degree, it can't be helped.)

  14. There are more protests through the weekend. Find yours. Turn out. We need numbers, and we will need numbers - building numbers - from here on out.

Basically, GET USED TO TURNING OUT ON SHORT NOTICE.

It's going to be important. I've got some ideas about what they're going to try to do to hold onto power, not based their history to date. It's going to take a lot to stop them, and we're going to have to be ready. I'll probably wrote about them over on @solarbird but you can follow that from here if you want.

Next post has the sign, behind a CW.

  15. So the Bothell protest was pretty decent given less than 24 hours notice. (It didn't show up in the list until late afternoon yesterday.) A little bigger than the "no war in Iran" protests during Cheeto's first term? And that had some lead up to it.

The side of my sign I built specifically to shock the conscience (see replies) succeeded in shocking at least _some_ consciences. To wit, I saw one full mouth-drop gape of horror when it hit, and, get this:

I had a _cop_ see it, look grim, nod, and wave approval from their patrol car.

This one's different, folks. It's different for the wrong reasons, but it's still different. And that's good.

  16. PROTESTS. TOMORROW AND SUNDAY. LOTS OF THEM. SHOW UP.

Here's a bunch on the Washington State wet side. All over the place, and I do mean all over. Like Tulalip, and Sequim. Don't get me wrong, I _like_ Sequim, but it is not a big place.

Pick one and get out there. Here's a list:

Sundays are further down but this list isn't in good date order, idk why. So keep scrolling.

  17. Cascadia Strong.

    antagonistmag.substack.com/p/c

California, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawai'i, Illinois, Maine, New Jersey, Rhode Island, and Vermont also strong, good job team. (That one dot that looks like it might be in Illinois is in Missouri, and that one dot that looks like it might be in Maine is actually in New Hampshire, and so on. I checked the text list.)

    By contrast, Florida.

  18. And if you're not immediately understanding it, remember that the politics of the last... 45 years? has been to tack towards your base (left) for the primary, then once you're there, tack to the right ("centrist") for the general.

Harrell's campaign - that got him competitive again after a disastrous primary - is the opposite of that. And it _almost_ worked. He did much better against Wilson in the general than in the primary.

I mean, this could be a one off, but _I don't think it is_. Particularly given that in 2024 Washington State moved left, and here in 2025, where applicable, we moved further left _again_.

So, once more: take some notes.

    #politics #seattle #election #casPol #casPolitics #cascadia

  19. A note about the Harrell campaign: after the primary, he initially started going at Wilson for being too far left. But he stopped that _very_ quickly and started tacking left _himself_, and running against Wilson's lack of executive experience. That resonated and he got back into the race.

This suggests to me that survey numbers on campaigning against her from the centre / right were _disastrously_ bad, and makes me wonder if he'd tacked left right away after the primary and focused on experience the whole time, if he may've been able to win.

To which I can only add: take note. Sure, it's Cascadian politics (always different) but consider NYC.

I'm seeing _multiple_ layers of message.

  20. There are a couple of races in King County which _may_ still be in contention depending upon how many votes come in (but it's unlikely), and one race in King County which is LITERALLY TIED.

  21. Notably, with latest vote tallies, her lead is 0.7% - over the 0.5% which would trigger an automatic recount.
