Desde hace tiempo llevaba la idea de abandonar el Apple Watch que tengo, un series 3 comprado hace ya 6 años, y pasarme a un reloj más sencillo. Principalmente porque la batería ya no funciona bien.
Así que he ido a lo fácil y funcional y me he comprado un Casio. No es el F-91W que es el sencillo. He ido a por el AE-1200 conocido como el Casio Royale. Y pasar a un reloj que da la hora y poco más me emociona mucho.

@kev Casio AE-1200 (aka the "Casio Royale". I made the mistake of starting my Saturday wearing the Pixel Watch 2. Should've gone with my 1st instinct which was this model. It's an attention-getter. Yes, there's entirely too much going on here. But the time is still easy to read at a glance. From its nickname to the world time zones, this watch is a conversation piece.
And it's a full suite of features without the need to mod the PCB.

𝟮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝘆 𝗖𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗼 "𝗥𝗼𝘆𝗮𝗹𝗲" (𝗔𝗘-𝟭𝟮𝟬𝟬) 𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗮. It's now fully modded with a matte stainless steel case and bracelet, sapphire glass and a titanium case back.
It’s still cheaper than most "brand" watches, and to the casual eye, it still looks like an original cheap Casio. But now, it's built like a tank. It’ll likely last a long, long time.
I think I’ve built the ultimate sleeper daily-use watch.

New retro watch daily driver! I'm very happy with my new £30 Casio "Royale" (AE-1200WH). I might need to swap the battery in 10 years and maybe buy another watch in 30. Now to mod it to my heart's content! And even if I go crazy with mods (titanium + steel body / sapphire glass), it'll still cost only about 1/5 of a top-end Samsung or Apple smartwatch!

Not exactly a #wristcheck since I suck at them...but this is the #watch on my #wrist today. The #citizen AW1361-10H was one of the first #watches I purchased when I was trying to find my preferences. I bought this to see if the #EcoDrive #solar tech was good. It became one of my favorites (alongside the #casioroyale), and set my preference for #quartz movements with solar charging. One issue: the seconds hand is difficult to see. #watchesofmastodon #watchesofpixelfed

@bgrier Today, I rocked my favorite #Casio #Waveceptor all day. Only to get home and put on my new #CasioRoyale which is not as cool as the $6 #SYNOKE watches with multi-coloured LEDs I got from #Aliexpress But still, a nice watch that will get modded at some point.

That's it! I downgraded my G-Shock to a #CasioRoyale
I love the design, comfort, and readability of the #GShock but I'm sorry Casio: it really sucks to use in all daily aspects: It is lacking absolute basics taken for granted since the late 80s.
No hourly chime, no long-press speedy digit changes, no milliseconds, an uninspired Settings menu, a countdown timer so optimized for interval workout it is useless for every other task. Even the "smart" functions suck: flaky bluetooth, the step counter as well as tide graphs of this "surf watch" are so far off from reality they are worthless.
I'm in love with the cheapo replacement. The AE-1200 has state of the art mid 90s functionality that just works, it is intuitive to use, looks way more awesome, is more precise, has more alarms, infinitely better world time functions, a decade of battery life, and costs less than a fifth of the G-Shock.
