I am a big believer in local economies as an alternative to #BigTech and banks.

I just paid cash directly to a local farmer for food.
Some in Federal Reserve paper bills and some in coin.
Interesting, the coins are not issued by the Federal Reserve, but instead by the US Treasury.
Coins are still fake money, in that they are no longer backed by anything. They are issued by a government institution that is supposed to be "of the people", where the Federal Reserve has no such responsibility.

One reason to use cash instead of credit or a bank debit card is that no one can look over your transactions when you use cash (or other forms of trade, currency).

Agreed. If you have any cash left over, use it to buy things you think will need in the future.
And hopefully buy it from people you know like and trust.

At least try to reduce the amount you spend with corporations who do not have your best interests in mind.
Big corporations may not actively hate you, but many of them certainly act like they don't care about you.

Bought a beef roast and a lamb roast from a local family a few miles from us.
Also had our regular Friday delivery of milk, hamburger and eggs.
Paid both with cash. Our purchasing decisions do make a difference, both with who we buy from and how we pay.
