  7. About the weekend and my newest exercises in QGIS and #OSM: a #cartographic #transitmap of the #trolleybus network in #Szeged, #Hungary. #Trams and #railways are shown too but the focus lies on trolleybuses 😊 map data by #OpenStreetMap, designed by me completely in #QGIS. Did it for fun 😊 enjoy!

    Constructive feedback is welcome.

“Literally a million fascinating cartographic artifacts are held in this sprawling university collection…
Within the campus University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is a geographer’s treasure trove: More than a million artifacts from the American Geographical Society, one of the most incredible collections of maps, atlases, and globes to be found anywhere in America.
It’s an inconspicuous home for such a storied collection: This is the final resting place of the library of the illustrious American Geographical Society…”

OpenArdenneMap is a cartographic style for topographic maps based on #OSM data.OpenArdenneMap was originally developed as a cartographic style with the #imposm importer and a #cartoCSS style derived from #OSMBright. Later the #osm2pgsqlimporter was used instead of the imposm. From 2023, the OpenArdenneMap is also available in #QGIS"

  14. Kastel Fortress in located in the centre of #BanjaLuka (#Bosnia and #Herzegovina), on a plateau, where the small #river #Crkvena debouches into the #Vrbas River. The #Fortress is the oldest preserved #historic #monument in the city, the place of origin of Banja Luka. Material evidence, accompanied by written sources and #cartographic documents discovered later, allow us to have a great insight into all phases of Kastel’s development.

    The first
#archaeological traces date back to dozens of centuries ago, all the way to the #Palaeolithic and they are traces of Gravettian hunters. The continuity of constant living on this locality has been proven for a period of at least 8,000 years – since the first settlements of farmers in the #Neolithic, over those in the #Bronze #Age, #Roman and #Illyrian conquests of Illyrian territories, the Middle Ages and #Modern Age, until now. This makes Banja Luka one of the oldest cities in #Europe.

Even the most famous legend from Banja Luka is related to Kastel Fortress. The
#legend concerns a beautiful girl called Safikada, who has become a symbol of unconditional love and faithfulness.
