We spent #EarthDay exploring the endangered coastline of #SantaCruz and mapping the proposed West Cliff Recreation Area. We used a bit of bathymetry using @Blender and some powerful collaborative cartography tools from our friends at @felt, plus tons of on-the-ground knowledge from the local activists living in this community that's on the frontline of the #ClimateCrisis. The new Formula 1 season kicks off with the Bahrain Grand Prix.
• The track was built on a former camel farm.
• To keep sand off the track, organizers spray the surrounding desert with a sticky substance to hold it in place.
• The 2004 Grand Prix was the first held in the Middle East.
• The Bahrain Grand Prix was moved to become a night race in 2014 for its tenth anniversary and has remained as one ever since.

Following feedback (huge thanks to everyone🙏), I updated the map of the #f1 Spa-Francorchamps racing track.

Lighting is now more natural, but I kept yellow touches in the track outline and background shadows.

Although it is not strictly a #3d map, I used #Blender to generate the scene and cast the light.

🏔️ Sandia Mountains

Located immediately east of Albuquerque in New Mexico, in the southwestern United States. The plural “mountains” is because the locals consider it a range, not a singular mountain.

This map was another custom design request. It was trickier than others because of the large scale, and JAXA ALOS Global #dem provides approximately 30 meters resolution. Meaning at this scale, there were visible data patterns.

Shaded Relief Map of 🇳🇱 The Netherlands Overlayed with Satellite Imagery.

The geography of the Netherlands is unique and compelling. It is naturally flat with low-lying plains. Hence the name—Nether-lands.

Much (17%) of the land used to be underwater (marked with blue in the second image), but Duch engineers reclaimed it. They built dikes to section off strips of underwater land and prevent seawater from flooding.
