Hui! Gerade habe ich meine letzten, Reifen Chilis abgeerntet. Eine Carolina Reaper und eine Trinidad Scorpion habe ich zur Saatgutgewinnung aufgeschnitten (damit die Samen trocknen ohne möglicherweise zu schimmeln).
Nach der Carolina Reaper habe ich vorsichtig an meinem Finger getestet, wie scharf die ist. Wirklich nur kurz die Zungenspitze an den Finger gehalten! Hossa! Im ersten Moment dachte ich noch "Ja gut, ist gut scharf". Danach hatte ich kurz einen bitteren Geschmack im Mund und dann hat sich die Schärfe mit einem kräftigen Chiliaroma verteilt. Jetzt brennt der ganze Mund. Nicht übermäßig, aber doch ziemlich ordentlich.
Ich glaube, das Zeug kommt der "Guatemaltekischen Irrenhaus-Chili" recht nah. 🥵

Did check out another grocer #HotSauce today. This time it's #LOLA'S fine hot sauce, #CarolinaReaper version. The first bar for grocer shelf sauces be that they're not utterly horrible. Test passed. Not bad at all. Probably a one on the #HotOnes scale , but we've got tolerance so maybe a bit more for the duffers. A little sweet. A little bite. Entry level

On the plus side, they are tasty (like Habaneros), and not just hot. Great flavor... if you can take the heat. Unlike Ghost Peppers, which are pure hot and taste like battery acid. #peppers #CarolinaReaper

Bad news: only harvested a handful of peppers from the Carolina Reaper plants, because squirrels have decimated the leaves and eaten some of the peppers.
Good news: The peppers are SO HOT than the handful of peppers (if dried or frozen) will probably be enough for a year. A mere TINY *sliver* of those peppers-- imparts enough heat into a dish to clean out your sinuses and more. 🥵 (an entire plant would be enough to incinerate a city block)
