  1. Carnotaurus (Cyberzoic by Creative Beast Studio)

One of my top favorite non-avian theropods to this day is Carnotaurus. With its iconic and unique horns, tiny strange vestigial arms, and a fascinating scaly skin, what’s not to like? My first introduction to this animal was the Disney Dinosaur film back in 2000, which I first saw in the theater with my father for my birthday, and I’ve adored it ever since. I’ve also reviewed two other […]

  4. The weeks #Lego #FossilFriday is #Carnotaurus

In 1976 the National Geographic Society started sponsoring a project called "Jurassic and Cretaceous Terrestrial Vertebrates of South America"

In 1984, the eighth expedition led by Argentinian paleontologist José Bonaparte excavated a relatively complete (minus the tail and lower legs/feet) fossil.

In 1985, Bonaparte published a note presenting Carnotaurus sastrei as a new genus and species and briefly describing the skull and lower jaw.

  13. Carnotaurus (Haolonggood)

I was fond of the South American abelisaur known as Carnotaurus from the moment I learned about it back in the late 1980s. And really, who wouldn’t be? With its short, boxy skull, prominent pointed horns, and almost preposterously puny arms, it is easily one of the weirdest-looking theropods, and thus one of the coolest.

Many toys have been made of the “meat-eating bull,” including […]

  17. Carnotaurus (Roarin’ Real Feel, Jurassic World Legacy Collection Reimagined by Mattel)

In 1994 Kenner released the first ever toy of Carnotaurus under their Jurassic Park line. Although now one of the most popular theropods, Carnotaurus had only been described 9 years prior to the release of the Kenner toy. That would have been a decent turnaround from scientific description to toy for that era. That Carnotaurus was of course, the Demon Carnotaurus, one of the most elusive and […]

  23. Carnotaurus (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Hammond Collection by Mattel)

Mattel loves Carnotaurus. Our friends at DinoToyCollector.com have catalogued 22 Carnotaurus figures for Mattel’s Jurassic World line, but that number includes the minis, Snap Squad, and similar toys too, and their various repaints and repackages. Either way, the company has still produced an impressive array of Carnotaurus toys. They’re all really nice too, Mattel does Carnotaurus well […]

  27. This weeks #Lego #FossilFriday is #Carnotaurus

Discovered in 1984 by farmer Angel Sastre and excavated by Argentinian paleontologist José Bonaparte, Carnotaurus is one of the most complete carnivorous fossils from the southern hemisphere. It even has fossilized skin, only its the rear 2/3rds of the tail and lower legs and feet had eroded away.

Bonaparte published a note mentioning Carnotaurus in 1985 but didnt formally publish the description until 1990.

  32. While I wont get to build them all. Here are the #Dinosaurs of #Patagonia I have been working on. Not all of them are my design, but most are. Remember, these are NOT to scale with each other.

Starting at the back, we have #Patagotitan (originally a Diplodocus build), then we have in front of that, from left to right, we have Neuquensaurus (modified Saltasaurus build), #Brachytrachelopan, and Amargasaurus.
#Carnotaurus, Eoraptor, Eobelisaurus and Tyrannotitan (originally a Giganotosaurus build)
