It's heartening to listen to #NaomiKlein and #AstraTaylor talk about solidarity and their vision of the future. We've all got work to do :)
I was delighted to hear Astra Taylor bring up #anthropocentrism - I have long held the theory that our #speciesist/human-supremacist approach to life on earth is the slippery slope that supports the categorisation and "othering" of humans based on race, religion and nationality. To put it in #carnist terms, once you develop a taste (for othering), you can't stop.

Floris van den Berg is docent milieufilosofie aan de Universiteit van Utrecht. Hij schreef maar liefst 20 boeken, waaronder “Filosofie voor een Betere Wereld”, “Groen Liberalisme” en “De Vrolijke Veganist”. Hij noemt zichzelf vrijdenker, atheïst, liberalist, naturist en humanist en veganist.

I heard today about the horror that is "Outback Steakhouse".
Let me tell you the truth.
The true blue Aussie version has some vegan/veggie options for those who are obviously accompanying family/friends to the restaurant, unlike the US menu because in Australia cities these are very common choices.
We don't get the option of "kookaburra wings" because that makes us cry. They're a native bird that we know what they look & sound like.

I have yet to see an apology
on any mainstream media or social media from a #carnist for #carnism about #Covid19.This is quite extraordinary considering if we didn't eat meat the number of dead would be 0 but as it is it is 7 million and worldometer estimate 674,206,940 have recovered.
No one has apologised to me for my significantly decreased lung function.
It's okay to be angry.

Why do we #vegans frequently get questions like "where do you get your protein from" or "but then you must surely take supplements?", while #carnist|s never get asked things like "where do you get your folate and fibre from" or "how do you deal with your increased risk for colorectal cancer or hypertension, heart attacks and other cardiovascular diseases?"
That's #doublestandards for you.

@jsbarretto Not knowing anything going in, I was kind of disappointed by my own assumptions. It seems a lot less complex than I thought it would be. I’ll try it again a couple more times and see if I find a class I like.
I also don’t really like the #carnist perspective it forces one to assume. Nearly every game does this to some degree but here it’s central and unselfaware. In the game world, animals are a spontaneously manifesting resource that only exist to threaten you and be exploited; their exploitation is the only path forward the game presents.
OTOH I think the technology is neat and I’m interested in examining how it works.

«On December 16, 2022, the lead volunteer of Tiny Hooves Sanctuary, Taylor, was brutally attacked for protecting the safety of one of their animals. Earlier that day, a goat was found left by someone on the property, and the rescue jumped into action to make the goat feel safe and protected. A few hours later, a man trespassed onto the farm and demanded to know where the goat was. Within 30 seconds, he began brutally attacking Taylor without warning. The man jumped the gate, started punching Taylor and picked up a heavy brick and beat him with it, screaming that he would kill him. When another volunteer, Sandi, heard the commotion, she ran to help and the man threw the brick at her as well. 911 was called and upon hearing the sirens, the man took off and busted through one of the gates and fencing of the sanctuary. After a police standoff in a nearby pole barn, the man who attacked the two volunteers took his own life.
Taylor was rushed to the hospital and subsequently transferred to a higher-level care center in Milwaukee. He suffered extensive injuries and will have a long road to recovery.Anyone who knows Taylor knows he is part of the heart & soul of what makes Tiny Hooves such a special place. He works tirelessly to help these animals, loves them dearly, and would do anything to protect them as evidenced by his heroic actions yesterday that resulted in his attack. Taylor lives on the farm and works full-time caring for the animals and helping coordinate the other volunteers, and his presence will be missed desperately during the winter months while he heals. Anyone who has spent time on a farm knows that the winter months are especially hard as is, with harsh Wisconsin weather and extensive upkeep on enclosures to keep the animals safe and warm, let alone the regular day-to-day operations. Tiny Hooves is where over 150 rescued animals call home, and they deserve all of the help we can give them.
I am asking for help to raise funds to help offset the medical costs as well as to help ease the burden of the day-to-day operations of costs to keep Tiny Hooves up and running while their founder Beca helps care for Taylor as he heals.
