Speculatively identified as the remains of a Neolithic chambered tomb, nestled in Cwm Eigiau beneath the high ridges of Y Carneddau mountains.
Visited May 2012 on descent from Carnedd Llewelyn and Pen yr Helgi-Du.

There are views to Hafodygorswen cairn circle in the valley, Pen-y-Gaer Iron Age hillfort and numerous high level Bronze Age cairns on the mountains. The tallest stone has drill holes and has been reused as a gate post at some time.

There are in fact a lot more than two stones here. As well as a couple more mid-sized uprights, there is a fan of very small standing stones, hidden in the reedy grass.
It's a wonderful palimpsest landscape that has seen the Bronze Age stone erectors, the tramp of Roman soldiers and the iron and wire of electricity pylons, all overlaid in shadowy presences.
