  1. Musical Interlude: OK, now for something fun. Carl Stalling did music for countless cartoons, most famous for his work with Warner Brothers, but also Disney and other studios. He did a new score almost weekly for 22 years!

Stalling was a master of the "musical pun," inserting bits of popular or classical music into his scores to accentuate the humor, but his original work was also vital. In just a few bars he could set tone and atmosphere like few composers can.

I've long felt that light composers don't get enough credit, and Stalling definitely doesn't! Listen to his work and realize how much of his music has permeated our culture...

  6. I am completely crazy about the music of #RaymondScott, which, like everyone else, I know about because #CarlStalling quoted him a lot in #LooneyTunes toons.

So this new release is kind of a big deal to me, and is probably a big deal tout court.

  11. In one of those 'well that took me long enough' moments, finally picked up a copy of this fine piece of work, the 1990 compilation The #CarlStalling Project. I had a rip forever and all but when I saw a copy for $3 today at Amoeba I thought 'well then.' And before anyone asks, yes I have #RaymondScott stuff as well, thanks. #music #WarnerBros
