Como cualquiera que no viva debajo de una piedra sabe, El Universal entró en una polémica debido a una entrevista publicada el pasado 18 de junio. A propósito del aniversario luctuoso de Carlos Monsiváis, el diario republicó una entrevista realizada al escritor por Edmundo Cázares hace varias décadas. Y de entre todas las declaraciones de Monsiváis, lo que hizo estallar la controversia fue un fragmento en donde sugiere que mantuvo relaciones sexuales con un joven Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

Las tropelías de un personaje como Edmundo Cázares me recordaron mucho al gran Vázquez, otro truhán de la vida real cuyas «hazañas» conocí a través de las historietas de Carlos Giménez. Lo del affaire AMLO-Monsi ha sido apenas la punta de un enorme iceberg de entrevistas reales pero ficcionadas, con declaraciones y halagos hacia el «periodista» que se repiten al pie de la letra a través de las décadas.

Hoy han concecido la gran cruz Alfonso X El Sabio (la medallita es indiferente, ya sabemos de que van esas tonterías gubernamentales) a un dibujante que marcó mi orientación política hacia la izquierda, desde niño.

Si, yo leía al gran Carlos Giménez sin que lo supieran en mi casa, tenia una modesta asignación que me gastaba en comics que luego cambiaba en una tienda o en el rastro.

He de volver a leer #Paracuellos. Recuerdo que su impacto fue brutal.

Carlos Giménez originally created his adaptation of Poe’s 'The Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar' in 1971 for the Spanish magazine 'Trinca', but it was never published there due to "censorship problems." The story was finally published in 1976 in 'Club de Amigos de la Historieta', and then in the magazine 'Cimoc', in 1979.
