  1. Berg-Segge (Carex montana)

  2. My attempts at planting out #Carex on the river banks is running into some issues because the creek is now dry and the soil is so dry the water runs off.

Carex testacea and Carex comans green or something like that.

  3. Need some help from the botanists to identify this unknown #Carex. I’m not familiar with it.

  4. Today’s #Carex harvest in preparation for cleaning the pavers. Can’t remember which one. It’s not C testacea. That’s on the other side of the driveway.

  5. Go to work early

    Or

Replant collection of free #Carex gold from front walkway?

  6. These #Carex testacea and friends are driving me bonkers.

Cultivation trays, regularly watered, plenty of seeds. Total output: 3 weeds.

Gravel patch near front door continually being trampled and disturbed: at least a half dozen perfect Carex specimens

  7. Would @KorimakoEcology and others be interested in a “Sedge every hour” bot that just posts a photo of a different sedge every hour.

I’m not offering to write and maintain it. Just suggesting it. #Carex

  8. Another #focusStack, #Carex blooming from the #Ottawa #Arboretum. Six images stacked with #ZyreneStacker.

ZS does a great job by default. It does add a bit of noise to the background. Not sure if that's better or worse than the defraction I'd get with a single image shot at f22?

    Uh-oh*. Who's "they"?

    * I know almost nothing about Carex, so - whatever it is - it's low investment/impact for me. ;-)

  14. Hier ist eine weibliche Blüte in jungem Zustand, später stehen die Früchte seitlich ab. Ein sehr kleines Pflänzchen, mit dem Smartphone schwer zu fotografieren (Davalls Segge).

  15. Pennsylvania #sedge blooming, Maple Grove Forest Preserve. Spring peepers calling, white trout Lily and false mermaid in bloom as well.

  21. Here’s a fun member of the #Carex genus:

    Carex #uncinata .

I recently added a photo of it and its seeds on #iNaturalist . I will not be adding it to my collection of various Carex members in my Carex garden because of what I said when I encountered it: I said it’s common name.

    Bastard grass.

    Bloody painful.
