CW: Private equity rears its ugly head.

5. I’ve lost faith in them completely.

Much as I admire some of the nursing staff, who work bloody hard, it’s obvious that the home is being run down from its starting point, to extract maximum cash for its investors.

I knew little about how private equity works, but once you see it in operation, you realise why it’s such a cancer in our society.

I’m reaching out to another home.

Imagine a hallway packed with 60 elderly residents and family, trying to listen to a man warbling on a laptop, which was an amplified by holding a karaoke microphone next to the speaker. To add a dash more fubar, the speaker was set to add some weird echo/delay. Utter chaos.

1. After dropping their CQC care home rating from ‘good’ to ‘needs improvement’, and losing 3 managers in the space of 6 months, the management at my mum’s care home thought they’d print some bullshit PR to reassure (gaslight) everyone that things weren’t on the slide.

It included satisfaction statistics that were entirely unattributed/fictitious (see pic).
