  1. Why do #ConcentrationCamps turn into #extermination projects? Because #fash #states think that the #carceral #deprivation and #torture will deter #rebellions As we see from #Gaza the world's largest concentration camp - and many others, this is not what happens. The concentration is a radicalising process, in exactly the same way as prisons are universities and network facilitators of criminal enterprise. Faced with this realisation - that the people you have imprisoned are now fully concentrated on your defeat, the fash response - of course, always out of fear of righteous vengeance - is to seek to eradicate the threat of consequence rather than account for strategic missteps in creating the concentration camp in the first place.

  2. Black parents have historically been divided from our children by #enslavement, the modern #carceral system, family courts, + #capitalist work demands. I've been overjoyed to welcome my second baby this year, with a partner who's committed to healthy co-parenting and social justice. And I'm committed to being present with my #baby while maintaining my #activism and #radical tech projects.

"This #lawsuit also marks #EFF’s commitment to stopping the current trend that seeks to #privatize aspects of the #carceral system for #profit as well as strip #privacy away from incarcerated individuals. Another such practice is charging exorbitant fees for people to make phone calls to family members—a scheme that #Connecticut has just made illegal."

  7. Using Amazon's #Rekognition technology, #Spotlight use the moralising narrative of humanitarian uses to extend #carceral networks, putting marginalised consenting #sexworkers at-large (and their networks) at further risk, while expanding policing powers. The excuse is stopping child trafficking, but the practical applications show an expansion of the hostile terrain–featuring tech-augmented police harassment–that endangers folx in the first place. Sarah is one of many.

  11. Hi again all! I'm Matt, a researcher and lecturer, fighting #facialrecognition and other #carceral #tech by day at Amnesty Tech, teaching #sociology at #Cambridge and writing on digital urban infrastructures as new frontiers for #racial #capitalism and #migration #control by night. Bouldering and hiking to escape the demands of capital. Drink coffee to survive them.

Any other #CriticalRace and #STS folks out there?
