  1. Really proud of this paper coming out today in science, of which the last author is one of my colleagues. He had started thinking about this 15 years ago : one could suppose that the warming climate could lengthen the growing season for trees, and therefore increase their carbon uptake. The colleagues were however able to show that the warming climate has a negative impact on the growth rate of trees, which largely offsets the benefit of longer growing season on future forest carbon storage.

    If economics can be said to speak, it needs to shout LOUDLY about proper green regeneration (rather than plant-a-tree make-work): “Scientists found that natural #forest regeneration delivered substantial carbon and #biodiversity benefits and could be up to 96% cheaper than traditional tree-planting programs.” 🌳🪾🌲🌴🎄
