My #capricious kind resides
outside the lines
drawn by
the authorities
of this uptight society

We are
by all conventional
respectable
definitions
considered
marginal types at best

Nihilists to be tolerated
but always isolated
and kept at arms length
as freak show players
to be tagged and caged
as to not infect
the insulated populace
from our peculiar brand
of anti social behavior
their experts label aberrant

Their soul choking restrictions
we grudgingly accept
for now
as we acquiesce
to the cruel whims
of the current
alpha mutts

but we know
the wheels
of change do turn

Revolutions ferment
right under the nose
of the obliviously arrogant

So we bide our time
behind these iron bars
til that glorious day
critical mass is reached
when we freaks
will outnumber
and overwhelm
the now freaked out
lost grip populace
who will be taught a lesson
in the payback terror
of reversed repression

Everyone joined in.
She was charming, she was.
Fifty years later, my tailbone is still broken.
The pain still lingers.
I asked my dad about it once, long after she was dead.
"She wasn't abusive, honey.
She was just capricious".

She was changeable like the weather in April, #capricious like the sea at the Cape of Good Hope, unpredictable like the gusts of a Winter storm... and today... Yes! ... today, she would veg in front of the TV and binge-watch Ally McBeal.

Call me capricious
It may even be true
As my moods shift

The vast turquoise water that travelled out to the distant horizon seemed infinite. Gulls arcing and wheeling in the skies above.

Sun glistening in the clear blue sky as it refracted off the rolling waves. A zephyr gently rippling the surface.

Ebbing and flowing, lapping up gently on the golden white sands. The rhythm is beguiling and hypnotic, like a metronome oscillating in perfect time.

The capricious weather brings with it tempestuous winds and pounding waves, enraged and filled with fury.

Sloshing and swelling, water oscillating from the murky grey depths, both untameable and wild. The skies above blanketed in darkness.

Waves rapidly rolling and crashing, relentlessly pounding the shore. Rumbling and roaring, like the mythical Kraken bellowing from the depths of the abyss.

The sea has many voices.
