Canvas LMS suffered a major cyberattack on May 8 that locked thousands of students out during finals week. The platform was hit by a group linked to ShinyHunters, preventing access to assignments, grades, and course materials at the worst possible time.

Vrijwel alle grote onderwijsinstellingen in Nederland hebben de digitale leeromgeving van Canvas-systeem uitgezet, vanwege een hack door cybercriminelen van Shinyhunters. Daardoor kunnen honderdduizenden studenten geen opdrachten inleveren of lesmateriaal bekijken.

Ook bij ons is Canvas ondertussen offline met de waarschuwing volgens Trajectum: “De HU verzoekt iedereen dringend om deze software niet meer te proberen.”
