  1. Fortuitous timing… The day after I asked people's opinions about whether I should replace my EOL'd #Netgear router, Netgear sent me #spam bragging about how they've been approved by the FCC. There are no unsubscribe instructions anywhere in the message, which means every single email like this they sent is a separate violation of the #CanSpamAct. Amateur-hour crap like this pretty much guarantees I'll never buy another product from them.

  2. @AstaMcCarthy @proffnes It’s just crazy that someone would solve a #CAPTCHA of any kind to take a #survey. I suppose the survey pusher must be a charity that the survey taker really wants to help.

I primarily just get Qualtrics surveys from financial institutions who repeatedly nag me to take their survey. Every single time I get a 403 forbidden (Tor is blocked). So they want to force me to disclose even more personal data than the survey itself calls for, even if the survey pusher follows @renebekkers’s guide¹. Yikes.. then hearing from other ppl who can reach the site that they must solve a captcha and dance for them.. what a shit-show. Who are these ppl willing to bend over backwards to give both data and labor for nothing?

So, here is my question: how can I stop all senders (financial institutions in particular) from sharing my email address with Qualtrics? The bottom of these nags has an unsubscribe button. I generally avoid those as they signal that me email address is live. But what if I visit those unsubscribe links? Will it unsubscribe all future qualtrics nags by that sender?

…Oh shit… 403 error. So we cannot unsubscribe without compromising more data. Surely #Qualtrics violates³ the #CanSpamAct by blocking people from accessing the unsubscription mechanism.

@samweingamgee’s #privacy concern² is also notable.

  5. Oh, look, it's #Microsoft sending #spam that violates the #CanSpamAct. (Do you see the address of the sender in the footer? Do you see an unsubscribe link? No, you do not.)
EDIT: Actually the address is there, don't know how I missed that. No unsubscribe link though.
