But let me repeat again: #Snap packages rely on a centralized repository. Let me repeat:

#Cannonical is trying to do a #VendorLockin situation with snaps, whereby they become the gatekeeper to your software.

Juxtapose that with #flatpak, which is designed from the get go to be repo agnostic. Sure, you need the #FreeDesktop runtimes for most flatpak repos, but it isn't actually a hard dependency.

Første gang eg har rørt #Ubuntu på ett år... fy faen eg hater det.

Når det gjelder "not invented here" syndromet, så er #Cannonical kongen på haugen.

Flatpaks? AppImages? Gi deg med det fattige tullet. Du vil så klart ha en Apple-esque walled forbanna garden med snaps! Bygget for server, jury rigget for skrivebordet, all slags tull!

Derfor kan vi ikkje bruke SELinux. Neida! Vi må ha AppArmor! Vist du vil ha ett program som ikkje fins via apt eller snaps? Føkk deg, hopp igjennom sirklene vår!

Let me put it like this. #Cannonical wants to diversify their portfolio and the trajectory they've chosen is one that pussyfoots with #autocrats and #SiliconValley #banks.

For all #RedHat & #IBM are, it just doesn't compare to this would-be #Microsoft (a company they've frequently "conferred" with).

I don't care much for their new shiny #Rust based #OperatingSystem stack is, I keep telling people:

I remember Mir. Funny how things didn't go the way #Cannonical planned. Now #Wayland is the defacto standard behind display management.

It's not fully formed, just yet, but the various protocols put together thus far shows that a lot of thought and effort has been put into it.

That being said, #XLibre reminds of how everyone forked rc.d when #systemd became standardized. Years later, we're all better off for it.

What an interesting post by @jnsgruk Looks like Ubuntu is getting more and more into #rust and #security. They decided to use sudo-rs as default sudo implementation.
