Despite some plot holes and moments of unbelievability, casting, and performance is top notch, and brought a surprising empathy to characters that are otherwise too often drawn as forgettable one-dimensional story fodder. Thumbs up. Side note: I haven't seen #WilliamBaldwin in anything for a long time, but he was amazing in this.

Saw #CandyLand (2022), an #Indie #Horror #Slasher film, this weekend, It centers on the grisly fates of sex workers operating out of a remote American Southwest truck-stop, and has no association with the childrens' board game. The amount of story and character development in its 93 minute runtime while also making it an emotionally engaging slow burn is impressive....

Day 10: THE SALMIAC
Deep in the heart of the Licorice Woods live the indigenous Salmiac, fiercely territorial beings of black licorice and salt that view everyone who ventures into their domain as gifts from the forest. They are strictly isolationist and regard the best interaction with outsiders as one that favors themselves. Even Licorice Elves in the west speak of the Salmiac with fear and caution.

Day 9: THE TOFFEE TRIBE
Though not so numerous these days, the Toffee Tribe is widely regarded as descended from the original inhabitants of #Glycoris. They built the first cities, and their gods still pervade religious life among all Glycorans.
Today, members of the Tribe tower at 5-6 feet compared to the more diminutive but more numerous Jellyfolk. Their skin ranges from a rich brown to more amber color.

Jellyfolk are a diverse set of individuals with heritages ranging from gummies to jellybeans. They are the predominant inhabitants of #Glycoris and average about 3-4 feet high.
Dwelling places can vary across the region, ranging from conventional gingerbread cottages in most towns and villages to graham cracker high rises in the larger cities to hardened icing structures north of the Rock Candy Mountains.

Day 6: THE SPEARMINT LANCE OF FROSTBLOOM
An ancient weapon endowed with elemental power. The spear deals extra frost damage and invigorates the bearer with the fresh aroma of spearmint. Its point is fashioned from a bright green leaf with serrated edges.
The spear has an extra ability to inflict "frostbloom," encasing the target in chilly, immobilizing leaves.

Day 5: JELLYBEAN JUNCTION
While not the ceremonial capital of #Glycoris, Jellybean Junction is the de facto power center on the plane of confection. It is a monument to the hard work and ingenuity of the Jellyfolk, who turned this one-time backwater trading post into a thriving commercial hub. Consequently, envious eyes yearn for a slice of its fortune; its future is uncertain. Powerful factions vie control of this jewel of the Peppermint Plains.

Day 4: THE LICORICE WOODS
A trackless wilderness of black licorice dominates western #Glycoris. Visitors will find the pungent aromas of anis overpowering in groves and darkened canopies where towering licorice trees sprout candied leaves in a mix of colors. Watch out for entangling licorice vines and be sure not to breath in too deeply. Some have laid down their heads in sleep among the supple roots of the licorice trees never to awaken.

Day 3: THE COCOA RIVER
The second largest "waterway" in Glycoris is the Cocoa River, a winding stream of chocolate that flow from the Gumdrop Mountains in the south to the Soda Sea in the east. The source(s) of the river in the Cocoa Bean Jungle are bitter — nearly 90% dark chocolate. As it flows through the central plains, the composition sweetens so that the "waters" are nearly milk chocolate by the time it reaches the mouth.

Day 2: THE ROCK CANDY MOUNTAINS
Effectively walling off northern Glycoris are the Rock Candy Mountains. Powdered sugar snow crests the jagged peaks of solid rock candy of all colors. Legends abound of untold wealth in mineable resources here if one can survive the elements and treacherous passes.

Day 1: GLYCORIS: PLANE OF CONFECTION
Glycoris is a demi-plane commonly and popularly known as "Candyland," where everything, including the inhabitants, is edible in some way, though it might not always be advisable to do so. The plane can be accessed sometimes through the ovens of enchanted patisseries or honeyed groves of the wooded wilderness.
