Me demoré en comprar entradas para este concierto. Incluso pensé en no hacerlo, puesto que Candlebox es de las bandas de la generación grunge que menos he escuchado. Al terminar el show pensé: “Qué bueno que vine”. Fue un gran concierto con este tipo de música que me lleva a la adolescencia. Kevin Martin es un tipo muy agradable que se relaciona mucho con el público y se da el tiempo de firmar todo lo que le pongan por delante sus fans. Discos, poleras, gorros, pósters, bananos y polerones son de las cosas que vi pasar. En definitiva lo pasé muy bien en las 2 horas que duró el concierto.

Last Thursday I grabbed a last minute ticket to see the second to last date of The Who’s farewell tour, The Song is Over, at Climate Pledge Arena. I had thought about going with my dad but since he was out of town and I knew this would be a last chance to ever see them live, I decided to go.

I had often heard a few of their hits on regular rotation as a kid listening to my dad’s usual classic rock radio station selection in the car, but it wasn’t until the mid-2000s and Radio Paradise that I found I really liked Quadrophenia and the whole rock opera concept in general.

The show rocked. Obviously Daltrey and Townsend are quite old (in their 80s!) and don’t have their younger voices anymore but it was still great. It’s wild to imagine a current touring artist like Taylor Swift touring in 2070 when she’d be their age. I think I brought down the average age of the audience quite a bit, although I am at least past the Grey Line. The Times felt similarly.

I’ve gotten used to being the masking odd one out at work and most other public places, but I’m always surprised how few people use ear protection at concerts. I used Andrle’s Loop earplugs since I didn’t want to look like I wasn’t listening to concert while using AirPods in noise canceling mode, Marco-style.

I’ll try to upload some longer videos after I fix my WordPress setup.
