  5. Cancer #immunotherapy (immuno-oncotherapy) is the stimulation of the #immuneSystem to treat cancer, improving the immune system's natural ability to fight the disease. It is an application of the #fundamentalResearch of #cancerImmunology (immuno-#oncology) and a growing subspecialty of oncology. Cancer immunotherapy exploits the fact that #cancerCells often have #tumorAntigens, molecules on their surface that can bind to #antibody #proteins or #TcellReceptors.

  6. Recent work from University of Basel in Nature Communications looking into #Tcell #exhaustion, indicating a role for the SNX9 #gene. Knocking out this gene led to phenotypical and functional changes, e.g. Tmem differentiation, IFNg production, reduced #tumour growth, and improved survival in certain models.

  10. Now in #Science magazine (@sciencemagazine)

Katherine Freitas, Julia Belk, Ansu Satpathy, Crystal Mackall, & colleagues use #CRISPR screen to identify MED12 & CCNC as key regulators of human #TCell activation & function. Inactivation in #CART cells leads to increased T cell expansion, #metabolic fitness, & #tumor control!
