Great idea! I'll try to post once a week with #canadianwriters #canadianbooks I've enjoyed, starting with my most recent favourite VenCo by Cherie Dimaline. Magical realism that made me laugh out loud.

  4. @Lynnd @alan @vernilla @bookstodon Two of my favourite #CanadianWriters who have produced many wonderful #CanadianBooks are Wayne Johnston and Guy Vanderhaeghe. Both are prolific but Johnston's The Mystery of Right and Wrong is exceptional as is Vanderhaeghe's August Into Winter.

  5. Has a hashtag developed for Canadian Writers yet? Both #CanadianBooks and #CanadianWriters seem to have zero posts and my surveillance of Dark Side Social Media indicates that for some totally unknown reason, there's been a sudden upsurge of interest in Canadian books.

It seems to me that if we can get organized, this would be a great way to attract those people to the fediverse.

  7. #CanadianWriters appear ready to strike as they hold contract talks with the country’s indie #film & #television producers.

#WritersGuildOfCanada revealed 96.5% of eligible members voted to authorize a strike if a new deal with the #Canadian #MediaProducers Assn cannot be reached. “This strike authorization vote, a first in the guild’s 33-year history, represents a pivotal moment for #Canadian #screenwriters,” Wgc exec director Victoria Shen said in a statement on Thurs

  8. How's our open submission call going in its first week? We definitely have more relevant submissions this time than last - many of them very exciting! - but we're still lacking submissions from Canadians and BIPOC writers. Please share our call with any Canadian and/or BIPOC writers in your network! 🙏

  10. GORGEOUSLY FUNNY-SAD TALE of negotiating divorce, heartbreak, and dating at 28 in the bookish-ish social circles of Toronto. Brilliantly observant about how smart women can get very firmly in their own way. A MINUS
