UofT (Quercus), OCAD, UBC, SFU, U Alberta, Ontario Tech, and roughly 15,000 institutions globally are affected.

Instructure has confirmed the leaked data: names, email addresses, student ID numbers, and private student-instructor messages. ShinyHunters claims 275 million records.

The architecture problem: the same email is on your bank login, your tax return, and every job application. The same student ID was used to build the rest of your institutional identity. One vendor leak, every context inherits the consequence.

We apply the same principle to phone numbers: one number per identity bucket (shopping, work, family, school), retired when that bucket retires.
