Why do I keep saying that landowners are the ones that should pay higher taxes?
It's because it doesn't make sense to me that land ownership should be respected for "not paying into the system".
Like, if you want to play this silly game that little boys play of territorialism in elementary school playgrounds, where they draw imaginary boundaries, then by all means do so.
But for people who didn't consent to it, you gotta have a good reason why the respect for imaginary boundaries should be enforced.
To make it really easy: don't tax improvements; just land ownership.

The Reddit comments regarding the following post are calling out how it is absolutely fair that BC assessment has reclassified Big Bang Cider's land use as "light industrial", but I don't think land use should be taxed more.
Just land occupation should be taxed, and nothing else.
(Of course, I'm probably the "anti-tax (except land)" equivalent of marxists: I'm probably missing nuance.)

Harper is still a conniving jerk, i see.
“I worked closely with the late and great Jim Flaherty during the financial crisis,” Mr. Carney said on Tuesday. “I note that Pierre Poilievre was not at any of those tables, was not given any of that responsibility, and note further that in subsequent years, he has not gained any responsibility in managing crises or difficult situations.”

Ep 3.6: " 3.6: Propaganda and Petroturfing with Dr Jordan Kinder" is live! What is petroturfing? What is an energy imaginary? If, as Thomas King says, we are all stories, how can we make sense of which stories are leading us to an understanding of things as they are, rather than misrepresenting reality or persuading us to take a biased view? And what can we do when we learn to critically interpret the world around us? What are some concrete actions we can take as regular folks if we decide that we want to push back against this narrative of “ethical oil” and intervene in the reactionary oil culture war?
Dr Jordan Kinder has spent the last decade of his life thinking about these questions, specifically in the context of the Canadian oil industry and Alberta. The result? His new book Petroturfing: Refining Canadian Oil, which covers these topics and more, forthcoming from University of Minnesota Press in spring 2024. Join @arielkroon and Jordan to learn about the many competing narratives about (and even by!) Canadian oil and gas—including but not limited to being labelled dirty oil, ethical oil, one of the world’s leading polluters, an underdog industry under attack, a Canadian success story, the ball and chain around Canada’s neck as it tries to avert climate catastrophe, and the list goes on…
