Of the 1,649 physicians surveyed by the AMA.. 55 per cent of respondents said they would move to another Canadian province or territory, while a small percentage would retire or leave the medical field earlier than planned.” #AlbertaSeparatism #CanadianHealthcare

  3. I'm on the bus going north (5h ride) to North Bay, Ontario from Toronto. I met someone who had to go to Toronto for an allergy test and also lost his job testing blood samples because they closed the local test centre and now they send samples hours away. This makes no sense.

  4. canadahealthwatch.ca/2026/02/1 #CanadianHealthcare “In Canada, where people don’t fear bankruptcy for seeking care, patients come in and they just talk to you, about doctor things. That’s a profound relief, for them and me.”

  5. @drmargotburnell.bsky.social @[email protected] at least three members of the Conservative Party stood up in parliament today and falsely blamed immigrants and refugees for challenges in the Canadian health care system #CanadianHealthcare /2

  6. It's official: torn quad tendon, surgery this week.

6 weeks in a cast, 6 weeks physio for basic movement, and 6-12 months to rebuild full functionality.

Whole thing should run $250, including braces, crutches, and parking at the hospital (which is the expensive part).

  7. Ontario residents, Canadian residents, help make our public health care better by participating in this survey.

"This research survey is part of the OurCare project led by Dr. Tara Kiran from the MAP Centre for Urban Health Solutions at St. Michael’s Hospital. The survey is being conducted in partnership with the Canadian Medical Association, and with support from Vox Pop Labs."

  8. Why do David Eby’s freshly re-elected BCNDP, whose Health Minister swiftly promised my BCED K-12 wife Novavax availability in the election lead up months ago, now refuse to even respond to her emails?

Must we join Elon’s right wing hate site just to communicate with our out of touch BC govt!?

Politicians like David Eby deflate the BCNDP’s legitimacy by making false promises like this in an attempt to mislead voters.

Does Eby think we voted BCNDP because we enjoy having to beg the apathetic Bonnie Henry and Adrian Dix for basic means of covid mitigation?

David Eby’s campaign clearly lied to us about providing Novavax access (just as John Horgan’s BCNDP feigned support for TMX opposition in the 2016 election) simply to steal our votes. As soon as they have them, they toss our concerns aside and abandon us.

Power corrupts, and re-elected govts often forget that those whose voted them back in, did so for good reasons. To ignore those reasons is to ignore our democratic voices.

ALL in BC should have equal access to covid vaccines. Pfizer is not an viable option for many vulnerable.

Those who must take Novavax for health reasons should not be, yet again, abandoned by Bonnie Henry’s BCNDP.

We demand access to Novavax now or Eby and his cronies can expect a landslide Conservative win next election in BC.

All my future votes in this province will go to the Greens regardless of threat from the magaCons.

I just cannot continue wasting my vote on this flip flopping, out of touch BCNDP.

They ignore covid, they ignore long covid, they ignore Novavax requests from teachers, they ignore covid transmission in hospitals, they ignore the societal damage this unmitigated pandemic is reeking on our schools and communities.

All of us abandoned to a virus by their well paid, capitalist, economy focused health officials.

This BCNDP govt has embraced societal sickness and now refuses to provide viable vaccine options. Disgraceful politicking. Vote them out.

  9. Privatization of #Canadianhealthcare is touted as innovation—it isn’t. canadahealthwatch.ca/2024/02/1 “According to health policy researcher Andrew Longhurst, data from Alberta demonstrates that increased #privatization of surgeries has not reduced #publichospital wait times, that it has actually diverted scarce health human resources from the public system, and has led to a 6% decline in surgical volumes across the province.”

  10. The discovery of 27 cases of #scurvy in a northern #Saskatchewan community is raising concerns about #GroceryPrices and access to fresh food as #IncomeInequality worsens.

Earlier this year, a doctor in #LaRonge had a hunch that a patient was suffering from scurvy, a #disease caused by #VitaminC deficiency. The test came back positive and it raised questions about the prevalence of scurvy in the community.

The #LacLaRongeIndianBand partnered with Dr. Jeff Irvine and the Northern InterTribal #Health Authority to investigate. Irvine is a physician in La Ronge and works with Northern #Medical Services, an off-shoot of the University of Saskatchewan college of #medicine.

  11. This video about Canadian walk-in clinics is wrong in two ways.

Firstly, I've never been spat on by a doctor.

Secondly, the doctor wouldn't prescribe a cream for the ankle. They'd say it looks serious and that you should make another appointment so they can take a look at it.

If they're a nice walk-in clinic doctor, they might tell you to go to the ER.

  12. CW: Medical stuff with jabby painful bits

So I'm doing the nasty exercises, and noticing some benefits already.

Grateful for the Canadian healthcare system, even as my province works at chiseling away at the structure that is there.

I can only imagine suffering through that without the financial means to pay to see the doc, the specialist and then inflated drug prices if I were south of the border.

Vote like your health depends on it, 'cuz it definitely does.

  14. got ‘revoked’ by our #Toronto #ontario GP last week… not because of a move or anything, GP of 2 years just decided we were not bringing in enough💰(too many phone appts?)

Is it just permanent residents or is everyone getting boot now? I guess it’s back to appletree 😞 #ohip #canada #canadianHealthCare

  18. The Canadian healthcare system continues to deteriorate as it becomes privatized and more tests aren’t covered by the govt. I’ve had to pay over $600 this week for medical tests and devices. Healthcare has become something only people with a certain amount of money can access. I am grateful I can afford it right now, but what of the people who can’t? #HealthcareOrLackThereof #CanadianHealthcare
