Gravpisser is a one man black metal project from Canada, and he has a demo from December 2025 I hadn't heard (I'd heard a couple from 2024-- he put out 4 demos that year). Toronto's COOTIE CATCHER have been around a bit but I hadn't heard of them until recently. They have strong That Dog vibes, but with a great mix of both female and male vocals. Cool, interesting lyrics, dynamics and everything. This record could've come from the 90s. It's so damn good. Guitarry indie stuff but also unique electronica. New LP 'Something We All Got' comes out February 27, and you can preview 3 songs now, including latest single "Puzzle Pop", which also has a music video.

After chatting with @alfvaen here a few weeks back when he referenced Grapes of Wrath, a band I didn’t know, and learning they were the precursor to Ginger, whom I love, I knew what this week’s offering would be.

I first heard this track on the #NettwerkRecords compilation “Percolator - Music For A Cafe Culture,” and I liked it so much I had to get the band’s full album. It’s one of those songs so evocative it feels like a classic the first time you hear it, like the worn leather of a soft, broken-in shoe. This band delivers jangly guitar chords with a melodic warmth that - cornball alert! - makes my heart sing.

For this week's #MusicWomenWednesday, something with some real female RAGE. For the last couple days since it came out, I've been thoroughly enjoying Kitchener, Ontario's hardcore quintet BODY MINUS HEAD's debut LP 'An Exercise in Self-Sufficiency'. The whole band is tight and solid, but vocalist Alexandra Garvin really shines on this one. Her screams are unreal, and at several spots here, unlike anything I've ever heard. Catchy, pummeling, brutal, dynamic, brilliant.

Discovered a GREAT punk band today, maybe you've heard em. They're called No Problem, from Edmonton. All their albums are on Bandcamp - the last was was in 2018, and ALL their EPs and LPs are great.
