If I were writing a story about my characters having to protect people or themselves from an oppressor, how would they team up?

I'm writing one now about someone used to being on her own who is learning that there is power and safety if you let people in, if they're the right people. She's teaming up with her new [college] roommate to start with, and they both want to make things happen.

  7. "How does non-violent protest turn to violence at the hands of the #police? How have national politics driven the responses to #StudentProtests? As university space has become more contested, particularly by political forces on the right, what do violent responses to protests mean for university values of #FreeSpeech?"
