Boggabri, Caval Ridge and Lake Vermont Meadowbrook coal mine extensions will produce more than 880 million tonnes of carbon emissions over their lifetime, close to two times Australia’s domestic emissions from all sources in 2023.
And Tanya Plibersek has the hide to berate the Abbott Government over coal project approvals? Come on.
Three of the five projects approved under the EPBC Act today (19 Dec) were the coal projects.
She is trolling us all! Environment Minister? Maybe Minister for Coal Approvals adding to global warming against the science and putting us all in danger: humans and your children, companion animals like us, and the many wild animals and ecosystems.😡
Federal Labor Government should be ashamed. You were elected to update National environment laws, a mandate for climate action, instead 3 new coal projects in September with 1.4 billion tonnes of lifecycle climate pollution, and these 3 projects with 880 million tonnes of lifecycle climate pollution. - Juliet and Indiana Jones 🐶🐶

What we do for citizen science! A little after midday Dad stopped to take some quick ambient and spot temperature measurements along the new #UpfieldBikePath as it passes Merlynston station:
🔥Rail ballast was 51-52.6C
🚗Asphalt parking lot was 50-51.2C
🌡️White Concrete path: 42.6C
🌡️Ambient temperatures above shared use path: 37-39.4C.In comparison the path north of Boundary Road ambient temperatures were at least 2C cooler with the cemetery and 🌳trees on the west side but the path still in full sun.
The good people at #CAMerribek advocated to LXRP who did the car park redevelopment to use best practice design and incorporate shading of the shared use path (optimally via trees) They were ignored. 😡
This is a Failure to build for #heatWave and #climate of the future, that is increasingly here now. 🐶🐶
