Something excellent may be about to come from this #bchwy4 closure and #cameronlakefire at least for our little fam.
We may head West on Saturday to Pacific Rim National Park and Long Beach. The rumour is that it is incredibly quiet... including the campground! Even with single lane traffic opening Saturday morning that is not likely to change much! 😱 😬 😁 We'll see. 🤞This would be a perfect bookend to last year's #EVCrossCanada to PEI. Hoping. -

Looks like they’re nearing completion on the measures to re-open #BCHwy4 to single lane traffic. This morning’s update includes this impressive picture of the two cranes holding the wire mesh that will keep rocks and other debris from falling onto the road. Obviously this is a temporary message just to allow traffic to at least move through in a controlled manner.

The current update as of 4:44PM from BC Wildfire has the fire at 140 hectares. No different from this morning. There are few changes. The Spokesperson did say on the Radio that they do not expect the road to open until a few days *AFTER* the fire has been brought under control or put out. With conditions as it is, that could be at least the weekend if not some time next week.

BC Wildfire has finally updated their online information as of 7:17AM today. The fire, which they call Cameron Bluffs, remains out of control (ie. “A wildfire that is continuing to spread and is not responding to suppression efforts.”) and has grown from 20 to 25ha.
