In 1991 there was a cladding fire in #Liverpool and this provided the necessity to make regulatory reforms, but the then Tory government did not act.
On 3 July 2009 a fire in Lakanal House, a tower block in #Camberwell, London, killed Six people and injured at least 20. Yet government embarked upon a deregulation drive presented as a “bonfire of red tape” which saw crucial safety matters “ignored, delayed or disregarded”.

A plaque commemorates two men who "lived in a course of uninterrupted friendship for 60 years..." on the north wall of the sanctuary in St Stephen's Church, Canterbury.

The two Williams met when they were aged 16 and 20.

Here's a #postcard of the Camberwell College of Art, part of the University of the Arts, London. Like many art schools, it had its origins in colleges of arts and crafts, aimed at training people for trades. Hence the 'Polytechnic' label on the card

It taught fine arts from the 1920s; in 1986 it became part of the London Institute, which in turn became University of the Arts London in 2004.

It’s most common name is sasanqua #camellia and this species of Camellia is native to China and Japan.

Most species of camellias require a large amount of water, so with the steady rainfall of late (and relative mild summer) it’s no wonder these are blooming in abundance.

#skyblueclustervine have been flowering profusely and for some weeks may I add, in Melbs the past couple of months.

They’re so resilient and generous in their display period, that it seems they’re everywhere around the suburban streets here.. like… all the time!!

I really like that they’re a simple flower, subtle in colour and size - and the greenery that accompanies them sets the purples (in this case) off just perfectly.

Also, had a little multi-legged critter tagging along for a photo bomb! 📸

Such is #Melbourne’s weather, ‘four seasons in one day, raining, drizzly in the morning, blue skies, sun and glorious this arvo.

The sight of this #crepemyrtle warranted a stop off and snapping.
It’s just gorgeous.

This is in its flowering prime and was surrounded by about 8 others of the same size and colour, at a care facility in #Camberwell #Australia.

Podranea ricasoliana, called the #pinktrumpetvine, is a flowering plant in the genus Podranea, native to South Africa, Malawi, Mozambique and Zambia.

I love the subtle whites and pinks, as well as the visible vein-like appearance in the centre of its ‘trumpet’ section, within its flowering head.

Its leaves are so healthy and vibrant too.

Delicate. Pretty.

I think this is a Sorbaria sorbifolia, the #falsespiraea; it’s a species of flowering plant in the family Rosaceae.

If so, these heads will bloom further to display a furry/feathery white appearance in weeks to come.

The various shapes, colours and contrasts of this urban garden in #Camberwell #victoria #Australia from the footpath is simply stunning.

Taken at dusk, I was wondering what this garden looks like from inside. But didn’t dare impose or invade the owners privacy (of course)!

I’ve seen this same view throughout the day during high sunlight and if you’re impressed by this, just think five-fold super impressive, during mid arvo.

#smoketrees are coming into their own at the moment throughout Melbourne.

They’ll soon look a little scraggly but for now they’re light, feathery and appealing to the eye.

Im seeing them in a load of suburbs at the moment.

This little building located on a suburban street in #camberwell was once the local butchery - yes just like milk bars, bakeries and mechanics, they were often once a feature in your neighbourhood.

It has been preserved magnificently and still has the faded description / painted signage on the top of the canopy.

Brickwork is awesome. It’s a visual hedonist’s and old-age building lover’s delight!
