  1. @the In part because of the state of my home but in part over my mostly seasonally flaring medical conditions, even as I have been pretty continually using computers of this general type consistently for about 15-20 years, I've not had them enabled to make calls for over about 10 of those years.

This is also why/how I know virtual keyboards don't work often for me at all, because of how often I've had them fail me.

*Most of when I regularly had them enabled, physical keyboards were common.

This adds to why I really do consider them very separate but also why as I basically look to complete my transition away from big tech operating system ran computers, beyond my enjoyment of having #CalyxyOS for a while on one device, I really do need this to be a complete transition to having my computers back under my control.

*When you've got Google or other AI/LLMs embedded in said setups & automatic by the provider set times for updates, you don't at all have that control at all.

  2. @rraggl You think it's an attitude problem of mine, that you don't understand what "preset" means, nor the concepts of #DisabilityAccessibility or #Budgetable ????

To repeat & summarize realism for who I am & where I live: After I get enough new & thusly functional electric circuits put into my home to plug-in a desktop computer, get said desktop computer with a #linux distro on it (likely costing under $150) , I will most likely get a $70 -$250 smartphone setup, with #CalyxyOS, because I don't have the money to burn on a $900 setup (like #Fairphone & #Swiftphone) that'd still be inferior than the $70 one for my #DisabilityAccessibilty needs.

  3. For those still pushing #fairphone & #shiftphones as if they're reasonable options for everyone, you are #classist clowns at best. Spending $800 -$900 is nowhere near reasonable an amount of money to spend on a smartphone, when there are dozens of similar options in the big tech sphere for under $250 & if we switch our own OS, that likewise gives us dozens if not hundreds of similar options with #CalyxyOS & #PostmarketOS for that under $250 price point on a similar device.

  4. My #CalyxyOS phone, for about a week now, has been unable to read the battery on my #Pixel4.

If I disconnect if from power, it just turns off after about a minute- making this not useful as a cell phone.

I hoped they'd fix this in an update, and there was an update- no fix. I'm running Stable.

This, along with not being able to use google play services in a sandbox, may push me to go back to #grapheneos

Anyone else in the same boat or have suggestions?
