#BradfordPear #CalleryPear is rightly vilified, but keep an eye out for a lookalike this time of year: #MexicanPlum! #Prunusmexicanus. Blooms from #native Mexican Plum smell as lovely as those of invasive Bradford Pear smell awful. -

Ornamental Pears are illegal in Ohio, considered an invasive plant.
Nurseries have stopped planting them, and they can only sell their existing stocks for a few more years. As of January 1, 2023, Callery pear will be illegal to sell, grow, or plant in Ohio.
