Caller ID was never authentication. The number on your screen is just a field the caller fills in: your bank, the tax office, a neighbor, whatever they type. The doorbell rings the same either way.
So we added a peephole. Turn on call screening (free): every caller records a 10-second intro, you hear it, then choose to take the call or send it to voicemail. Saved contacts can skip it.

Displaying the company name (CNAM) on outgoing calls makes communication transparent and increases trust. This feature is widely used in countries where caller identification is important for service quality.

People need to also know that when you call a #TollFree #number (which #OpenAI/ #ChatGPT is using), there is no way to #block your telephone number from being given to them. It's called #ANI. #AutomaticNumberIdentification. *67 and other tricks to block #CallerID will absolutely NOT work with toll-free numbers as ANI operates at a lower-level of the #telecom infrastructure than Caller ID does.
So, if you use this service, you're giving your telephone number to ChatGPT which can be used for any number of purposes. Marketing. Data mining. Metadata correlation. And more.

I had a subscription renew yesterday. The fraud department at my credit union had a conniption. They contacted me by text, but I did not notice until this morning. Then they tried to call twice during my walk, but of course that was NO FUCKING CALLER ID!
When I got back from my walk, I checked the text, then checked my account, saw that it was fine, and texted back that nobody was defrauding me.
