What year do you think it was built?
I was shocked to hear it was built in 1994! Inside is a collection of murals documenting the rail history of Roseville, which is home to the largest rail yard in California.It's also the hub for railfans in the area who help maintain the train cameras in the area (link in comments).
The California Zephyr stopped in Roseville for about 30 minutes, a rare occurrence, allowing us to explore the charming station that serves Amtrak and Greyhound customers.

I have seen five fireworks shows while crossing Utah on the train tonight. also apparently red white and blue Christmas lights are a thing on 4th of July. also every little town has a beautiful clean train platform, looks like great public transit.

Waiting to board the Zephyr which is supposed to leave in 10 minutes and still shows on time and they make an announcement that says they’re still cleaning the train in the train yard because Amtrak layed off 80% of the staff. So who knows?

Who has ridden the California Zephyr recently? It’s been many years for me. I know there is no Wi-Fi but curious if there’s decent cell service, particularly interested between Emeryville and Grand Junction. Or if there are particular zones that are no service at all. Not interested in being on my phone but like to give a heads up to a couple of family members when I will not be reachable at all so they don’t worry.

The Coast Starlight is, to my reckoning at least, one of the Big Five Amtrak routes for long distance travel, along with the #SouthwestChief (Chicago -- Albuquerque -- LA), #CaliforniaZephyr (Chicago -- Denver -- Oakland), #EmpireBuilder (Chicago -- Spokane -- Portland | Seattle), and #SunsetLimited (New Orleans -- Houston -- Los Angeles). The Starlight also covers some of the same ground as the #PacificSurfliner (San Diego -- LA -- San Luis Obispo), the #CapitolCorridor (Auburn -- Sacramento -- Oakland -- San Jose) and the Amtrak Cascades (Vancouver Canada -- Seattle -- Portland -- Eugene).
