The #CambrianExplosion made based i.a. on #oxygen significant leaps in #animalevolution. Y. Zhang et al. (2025) assume a change in Earth's orbit altering #solarradiation, leading to land #weathering and #nutrients flow to the sea. Algae thrived and produced much oxygen.

In a new #TablasCreek blog I dive into how the storms we've gotten this winter have changed the landscape. Most interestingly, they've revealed the harder #limestone layers that run like veins through the softer #calcareous clay. This spillway from our reservoir is a great example of how the water chews through the softer layers until it reaches a limestone shelf. (And, I think, a super cool #photo!)
