Just hours after the #Cairo meeting adjourned, #DefSec #Austin announced the deployment of additional #deterrent #UnitedStates air defenses to the region & said he had placed more American #troops on alert to “prepare to deploy” to the region.

At the #CairoPeaceSummit convened by Egypt’s Pres Abdel Fatah El-#Sisi, #Arab ldrs conveyed a unified msg: attacks on #civilians in #Gaza must stop & #HumanitarianAid allowed in & urged the Israeli-#Palestinian #peace process to be rekindled somehow.

Sitting across from the foreign ministers of #France, #Germany & other #Western nations, Arab ldrs made bitter accusations of #European & #American double standards.
