It's that time of the year when Bennie gets twigs and stuck in his fur and starts worrying his foot. I trim out the resulting mat and he wears his cone until he forgets about licking. We bought this padded one to protect our shins as it doesn't bother him.

Bennie's bath aftermath in three parts.

1) Bennie returns to the scene before ALL HIS FUR is cleaned from the tub.
2) Bennie grabs my right thong from the floor
3) Bennie waves said thong by the coffee table.

Rules are now that he doesn't chew our shoes or knock things on the lower shelf of the coffee table, we'll play keep away then give him a treat to 'drop it'. He's very good at stealing footware.

I just realized that Theo, currently only 5 years old, has been a more positive influence on this world than a lot of politicians and billionaires. He's loyal, authentic, cheerful and he even recycles (dropped food, mostly).

He's an icon, he's a legend, and he is the moment.

I just watched a bird video on here and one of the birds had the audacity to make a sound, which made my dog look up at me from his blanket with the most judgmental stare, only to settle back into sleep, his back now turned to me, with a long and annoyed sigh. Bennie is so persistent with licking he has to wear his cone during meals. He can also drink from his water bowl.

Poor Bennie. He was licking his paw and it seemed to get better. Then he really started licking, so we started with the cone, Epsom salt soaks, and ointment. It got worse! Perk of being in a small town was I called the vet and got an appointment for 15 minutes later. He's on antibiotics, with hibitane, and vioderm after the Epsom salt soaks. A short (hopefully) retirement project.
