It’s dumb stuff like this why CA has a bad reputation for infrastructure. An extra $1B to route passenger trains around a spot that already has freight trains rumbling by?

It reminds me of the tragicomedy that was BART routing. BART trains in Oakland slow down to 20mph to go around a tight curve that was designed simply to save a hardware store. Billions of rides delayed for a single building that doesn’t exist anymore 🙄

CA says goodbye to pursuing federal help on high speed rail

“This action reflects the State’s assessment that the federal government is not a reliable, constructive, or trustworthy partner in advancing high-speed rail in California”

    Complete BS objection to #cahsr
This town is already bisected with only 2 road crossings in all of downtown. If anything the required HSR grade separations will improve this town

  4. GOP: still fighting against the 21st century. It’s an embarrassment that the US has less #hsr than Morocco or Turkey. Yes, you read that right — we’re behind even Morocco and Turkey in moving people efficiently and the #GOP wants to keep it that way

  5. @RM_Transit #BrightlineWest and #CAHSR will both ultimately depend on how they can connect to city centers after the initial phases they're in are completed.

I'd like to see Daddy Newsome just bring in the Bully Pulpit and get it done.

Both projects, if they can connect to Union Station will be very very popular when completed, and a massive boom to SoCal

  6. Biden's DoT funds 6 grade separations for the California High Speed Rail #cahsr in the Central Valley.

#mccarthy district is getting investment and jobs while the House Speaker is being a twat.

    Classic #Biden.

  7. CW: uspol, Elon

@chfrankcgn is not a direct source. The direct source is . Who he *actually* told he was serious about the project, but that he also hoped would be cancelled.

When was released, it was presented as an "open source transportation concept", not something SpaceX/Musk planned to build themselves, and initially focused on instead. It was a few years later that TBC confirmed that they actually intended Hyperloop too.

  8. @BrentToderian Anyway, I think /#Tesla/#ElonMusk made a huge mistake by their initial choice of route, and should have instead chosen LA-Vegas. supporters already felt incredibly under attack (admittedly, deservedly), with the project under threat, and felt that anything even tangentially related to alternatives - even novel concepts a decade out - was an attack.

LA-Vegas would have been a better example. No threat.
