    First homemade Café de Olla since returning from Oaxaca. I'm boggled that this isn't already on trendy coffee shop menus everywhere.

    Steep cinnamon stick, vanilla pod, cardamom pod, allspice berries, black pepper, salt and piloncillo and orange peel to make a spiced syrup. Mix with brewed coffee or espresso. (Recipes available online and in cookbooks.)
