As an aside, years ago I wrote a novella about a SF tech company attempting to build a virtual cable car ride. The coders are haunted by the most bizarre software bug you can imagine—a slumped man who appears in millions of tourist cable car photos, his face always obscured.
The book was made into an audio tour of the cable cars. It even got me a quick tour of the cable car engine control room, which was very cool.

Remains of the old Soviet-era cable car system in Chiatura, Georgia. The tiny rickety gondolas were nicknamed "flying coffins", can you guess why? 😬
While many have now been renovated, a few still dangle abandoned.

CW: Queenstown cable car fast-tracked
Rod Drury's ambitious cable car project has been accepted for the fast-track process by Shane Jones. I thought it was meant to whiz tourists into town, eliminating the need for rental cars? This line suggests otherwise.
"It is expected that the Queenstown Cable car would take up to 3000 passengers an hour each way and be located only 20 minutes’ drive from the airport."
What? The company's map even shows an "Airport Station". How can that be a 20 minute drive from the airport? Who is planning this stuff?
