  1. Taken stuff out to the cabin yesterday and this is where we got stuck. Got out, and then stuck again, headed back and switched to snowmobiles. Looks like the days of driving there are done for the year. #CabinLife #Nunavut

  2. Yesterday we “warmed” the cabin. Crowded and joyful. People came and ate and made space for others. Games were held at my in-laws’ cabin for more room. Tuktu stew, allu, bannock, salads and plenty of desserts. #CabinLife #Nunavut

  3. Ja ensimmäinen pulahdus - aikaisemmin kuin koskaan! Saunasta toki, mutta silti otan sulan hattuun.

  4. Kesän eka ateria. ❤️
First cabin meal of the season.

  5. Coming back to the cabin at the end of the walk. I was soaked in sweat as I was way over dressed. Stuck around the cabin longer than expected as I had to dry out clothes before snowmobiling back to town. #CabinLife #Nunavut

  6. Yesterday I walked a couple of kilometres up the canyon behind the cabin. As I suspected a pair of Ravens are nesting in it. Ravens begin nesting in March and lay beautiful pastel green blue eggs in the cold spring. #CabinLife #Birding #birds #Raven

  7. Job site table saw and empty fuel transfer tank ready to come back from the cabin. #CabinLife #Nunavut

  8. Stayed at the cabin last night. I brought heating fuel out as we were getting low. My wife is in Pond Inlet for Nunavut Quest as she’s on the committee. So I thought there was no point in going back home. Very quiet, took the battery out of the clock because the ticking was annoying me.

Took another tank of heating fuel out tonight but I’ll head home soon. Pretty sky tonight. #CabinLife #Nunavut

  9. Crowded cabin tonight. The power went off in the community this morning. The crew from Qulliq energy arrived about an hour ago to try and get it sorted.

So we decamped to the cabin with family for power and warmth. If they don’t get it going we’ll go get the dogs and extra blankets for everyone. #Nunavut #CabinLife

  10. I thought maybe she’d start with Dennis Lee’s Alligator Pie but okay, Billy Collins it is. #CabinLife #Poetry

  11. Heats back on in the cabin. Now to get it warm enough for the inverter to work and the battery to charge. At what point do I head back out? Generator was topped up. -37C #CabinLife #nunavut

  12. @NunavutBirder Oboy, I can feel this! I have not experienced the bitter cold of being outside in that kind of cold for many years but the sensation is still there. #CabinLife has its charms, this is not one of them!

  13. He walks. He talks. He sheds his skin like a rep… tile.

-31C with a howling wind late last week and a dead battery and low fuel meant three trips to the cabin that day. And my most extensive frostbite of the year. So now I’m peeling. #CabinLife

  14. Seal skin cushion for the bench made by Leah and our niece. #CabinLife #Nunavut

  15. Took the #Skidoo to the cabin this afternoon. Whiteout. And not the #NHLJets kind.#CabinLife #Nunavut

  16. Short day at the office today. And by office I mean the cabin. -27C, and it became apparent that that is too cold for the inverter which cycled on and off. And the heater couldn’t get past pre-heat because of the power going off. So with that, and the battery issue, my solution is to disconnect the inverter from the panel and directly connect the generator feed. #CabinLife #LearningCurve

  17. What you can’t see is the stairs block one of the light switches for the loft. Sigh. #CabinLife #NowWhat 2/2

  18. Hell yeah I’m roughing it, I just had to issue AT commands to the LTE modem in our cabin’s router. #outdoors #RoughingIt #CabinLife

  19. My vacations are art, books, letters, video games, walks and cocktails. (I benefit from my husband's bar tending hobby.)

What makes a great vacation for you?
