A native #IRC Client for the #Mega65 and it works pretty good.
No need to use a #C64 Terminal emulator like Novaterm and a Swiftlink modem connection for this when there's a native TCP stack.

For my second target last night, I revisited another old friend - the Sculptor Galaxy, aka The Silver Dollar, aka C65, aka NGC253.
This is amongst the largest of the spiral galaxies that can be seen from the Southern Hemisphere, and is a favourite of mine. This is nearly 5 hours exposure, gain 80, with just a light pollution filter on my Dwarf3. Postprocessing as usual in Snapseed after running through the in-app Stellar Studio tools.

I was playing around with the Mega65 emulator. It's the first BASIC I've typewritten since the 80s and it was fun. Maybe I'll buy one of these modern retrocomputing like machines 😉

Almost a year ago and days from my birthday I got my #Mega65 delivered to the door. Within minutes I open up the package and started playing with my new toy.
And of course I forgot to pause and appreciate the time someone spent creating the cover art. So today I'm doing just that. The mega comes in a really nice box and it really creates the feeling of a true birthday present!

Trying out some new demos and games on the #Mega65 and of course I copy everything that works onto a 3.5" #floppy.
Playing #megachase, a game written in #BASIC65 while listening to Bill Gates memoir "Source Code: My Beginnings".
So #BASIC, #8bitcomputing and #retrocomputing is very much a theme to this saturday!

Copied it onto a 3.5" #floppy to run on the mega. It's simulating David's #IMSAI8080 and #CPM with dialers and everything!
It's a game to be played on an #8bit machine for sure!

Now, my #MEGA65 is not only a MEGA65 and #Commodore #C65 prototype, but it also has become a #C64, as well as all #CBM / #PET models, like the #PET2001 and the other models, both normal and business types.
There are other cores too, such as a ZX Spectrum, Game Boy, Galaga, Bombjack, Ghosts'n Goblins, etc.
There also seem to be more in some form of development stage.

Just finished reading the 29th #Discworld novel Nightwatch and felt like I wanted play some #DiscworldMUD this morning.
The #Mega65 is such a great retro experience for stuff like this. Works great with #C64 Cartridges and software.

Using my #Mega65 in #C64 mode with a #TeensyROM cartridge to connect using NovaTerm over Swiftlink to a local shell on my #Mac Studio.
With 80 column mode, VT102 and ansi colors.

Inserted the #TeensyROM cart to the #Mega65, firmware updated it and connected the ethernet cable.
Works right out of the box with with dhcp. I connected to The Oasis #BBS to try out this new toy.

Bought myself a #TeensyROM cartridge as a #Christmas gift to myself and It arrived today. But I could not wait until the 24th so I opened it a few days too early.
A friend printed out cases in different colors but I think i'm going with the white and use the button from the red one.

Installed the #C64 Core on the #Mega65 so I can "retire" the real C64C for a while.
Cartridges and hardware IEC devices works on this enhanced Mister core. So it's perfect replacement with this much superior keyboard.
I will still try to use GO64 mode on the "#C65 ROM" on the Mega Core. But with #JiffyDOS on the C64 core together with my #SD2IEC the "C64" feels so very fast.
Never used Jiffy before and it took me by surprise how well it works.

Today I've been exploring the Ethernet tools for the #mega65.
Works great to send and load files without even transferring files to the SD Card which I hadn't seen or tested before. Thought it needed a JTAG adapter but It didn't.
Neither did I have a complete understanding of the format for the #BASIC code at first but with some help on the Discord I got the recommended to use petcat that comes with the #C64 emulator #vice to convert the ASCII to PRG.

Configuring the #mouSTer on the #Mega65
Firmware updated the mouSTer and configured it to use c1351.
It worked "ok" on #GEOS when having a nice steady but fast hand. But something is a bit odd when moving the mouse slow because it's just stuck until it jumps away pretty far.Don't really have any use for either a mouse or #GEOS65 right now though so a reconfigure of the mouSTer and more troubleshooting will have to be something for later.

The #MEGA65 can do very much advanced stuff in #BASIC which its predecessors could not do. The older #Commodore computers were very limited compared to the #C65 prototype, even the #C64. And the MEGA65 has even more to offer.
Things like for example saving and loading an IFF image file just takes one single command in BASIC. It took significantly more on the #Commodore64.

Games! Playing some #Mega65 games!
After all the work with formatting floppies and putting labels on them it was time to get some practical use out of the #floppydisks.
"BASIC Star Galactica" - It's fantastic what one can do with BASIC on 40Mhz. And I had to put the Tac-2 to some hard work.
"Classy" - It's a candy crush like pussel game addiction with this game to match Computer logos!

Wiping used 3.5" HD floppies
Putting tape over the hole to them "DD"
Formatting and verifying each #floppydiskHad time to go through 15 floppies and all of them seemed to work.
