Today I have mostly been tearing what’s left of my hair out, trying to configure my ZumSpot gateway so my #DMR handset can connect through to #C4FM #Yaesu #SystemFusion. Documentation seems patchy or has fallen to bit rot. Do you know of a clear guide? #HamRadio

I spent most of last night in my temporary #amateurRadio shack setting up my new Yaesu FTM-500D transceiver that will ultimately be installed in my #keiTruck. The menus are a bit of a drag but I got the hang of it enough to get an excellent report from another ham on the local repeater. And I started seeing my APRS beacons showing up on aprs.fi map.
I’m having a harder time finding good resources on Yaesu Fusion / #c4fm. I found a couple of local repeaters but need to RTFM.

@rhett #aprs for short messages and information retrieval (not so much into positioning). #packetradio or #ARDOP for #winlink emails (no windows, no #vara). #js8call for some asynchronous message and data exchange (not much experience yet). #M17project looks interesting. It is #foss enabling us to execute our #hamradio right to experiment (not like all that closed proprietary stuff: #DMRradio, #c4fm / #ysf and #dstar).

Man, I wish I had, you know, friends.
Or at least friends who are close enough to me that I could use this feature, and who are actually into #HamRadio, and own a #Yaesu radio with the pager functionality. . .
What would be extra super cool would be if you could have a function that would look for #C4FM traffic from a list of contacts, and leave a bell if it noticed anyone transmitting.
Maybe that's a feature in pricier C4FM transceivers?
