#astronomie je profite de l'actualité avec les comètes #C2023A3 #Tsuchinshan et #C2024S1 pour me replonger dans le livre de N. James et G. North "observing comets" paru en 2002. Franchement ce livre reste un must have sur le sujet même 20 ans après ! Seulement 13€ d'occasion ça vaut le coup.

We setup my camera on one of the Buffalo Astronomical Association's telescopes during the Buffalo Audubon's Trick-or-Treat Hike event on 10//19/2024 to capture comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-Atlas). Kometa C/2023 A3 jest jeszcze do ustrzelenia. ;-) Nawet w mieście. Oczywiście już nie gołym okiem.Dziś spróbowałem obiektywem 300 mm i…
1) zapomniałem, żeby skrócić czas naświetlania, więc jest rozjechane
2) dodatkowo coś ciężko mi było ustawić ostrość,ale coś tam widać.
W pewnym momencie z myśliwego (polującego na kometę) stałem się ofiarą (krwiożerczych komarów). 🤦♂️

After several attempts but non-success, last night I drove out to mountains to have dinner with friends, where a brief 15 minute window of opportunity to finally capture it emerged.
Was FINALLY able to get ~2 mins of data, but finally saw C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS).
We had only about 15 mins before the sky was dark enough after sunset to get set up and capture comet photons.
It was brief, but it was beautiful. For the first time, I saw a comet with my eyes through binocs (as opposed to a screen). Venus looked marvellous as well.
Have also included an annotated diagram merging the wide-angle shot taken with the DSLR and the more zoomed-in version captured with Seestar S50.
Comets are trolls but they are neat when you see them! 😍
I was about to give up on this with the clouds. Thankful for that small window of opportunity!
