  1. My choice for this week's #MusicWomenWednesday is a short video clip from the 1960s American TV show "Hullaballoo". Jackie DeShannon does a very nice version of the Fortunes hit song, which she unfortunately never recorded.

  2. #BostonWeekend 29/x EDIT jk, i went here, instead! I've got guests in town this weekend & this is extremely my jam, but not theirs, please go, its weird theatre, near home, and free:

Sun #THEATRE: #AncientGreece x #Hitchcock x #60sRock - “Attack of the Byrds! a verse play by Gary Duehr adapted from “The Birds” by Aristophanes, will be presented as a reading on Sunday, August 10, from 3-4:30.
The reading is free and open to the public. The reading features original songs by Jane Burgess Harcourt, sung by Suzanne Boucher and accompanied by Peter Hoffman on guitar. This version mashes up the classic #Greek comedy with “The #Birds” by Hitchcock and songs inspired by the ’60s band the #Byrds. In rhymed #tetrameter couplets, the brisk verse punches up its wordplay. This adaptation uses the masks and puppets of a traveling theater troupe to tell the fantasy infused with political satire.” artsathearmory.org/events/atta #Aristophanes #AncientGreek #ClassicalStudies #Comedy #BostonTheatre #TheBirds #TheByrds

  6. The Byrds were imploding by the time this was filmed. They reminded their audience that they could be a great jam band. Eight Miles Hight was a great song, no matter how it was played.

  8. @Kurjak Mai abbastanza lodati i #Byrds , #innovazione pura. Questo brano non lo sentivo da tantissimo, thanks for sharing :-)

  11. One of my favorite extreme rarities by the late #DavidCrosby: 1967 demo of "Lady Friend," written for the #Byrds before #CSNY. Shows how much vibe Croz could create with just a guitar. Cuts off at the end as he says, "I can't even remember the words." youtu.be/eqOcxrlEaP8

  13. Most people don't know that poet #AllenGinsberg and his partner Peter Orlovsky were #Byrds fanatics who danced wildly at shows. Their presence helped teach the late #DavidCrosby to unlearn hate and respect #LGBTQ people. For more information, listen to my @OsirisPod series with Crosby, #FreakFlagFlying. 15. Oddly enough, when I heard about David Crosby’s death, one of the first tunes I thought of wasn’t anything by CSN&Y but this one from when DC was with The Byrds and their version of a Bob Dylan classic.
