It's like Arday was such an impressive person that certain people were compelled to bring him down.

And there's two ways of looking at it:

Either they knew Arday's claims were the truth but because they are disgusting racists his impressiveness was so inconvenient to their racist ideals that they had to attack him ...

Or they just didn't believe his claims and didn't bother to verify his claims because they are such disgusting racists they are incapable of believing a black man can be so impressive.

And which type of disgusting racist they are I don't know, and I'm not entirely sure which is the preferable option.
